It took long twelve years for James Cameron to repeat his outstanding cinematic success. After ‘Titanic’ it would have to take something equally as large to match his previous success.

His previous famous masterpiece not just obliterated previous box office records, but as well walked away with 11 Academy Awards and at that time Cameron was ‘King of the World’. As well there were those who wondered if lighting could strike twice with this director. Especially since really ambitious project was about an alien planet, tall blue folks that somewhat resembled cats and was filmed in 3D.

‘Avatar’ is a story about Jake Sully – a paralyzed former Marine who was given quite strange mission of inhabiting ‘avatars’ in order to navigate the strange and dangerous yet beautiful planet Pandora. Scientists would link Jake’s mind and all the human knowledge, thoughts and abilities into a body that was genetically created with the help of both human genes and those of the indigenous people of Pandora – the Na’vi.

As these expensive body suits are connected to specific humans, Jake ends up having to take the place of his dead twin brother, who was one of the scientists trained to understand the Na’vi so that he could easily with them as well as integrate with them.

The real fun for Jake starts when this man deprived of the basic joy of walking is linked with his functioning avatar as well as is set loose in the eye-popping splendor of this strange new planet. Through a series of different events he ends up stranded, where he is discovered by Neytiri – the daughter of the leaders of the particular clan.

And as you may understand, there is a love in the movie as well. Jake starts to realize that every living thing is connected to something much bigger and more beautiful and that starts with the love he begins to feel for beautiful and brave Neytiri.

Of course, the script of the movie is very predictable, but as you watch this new world open up before you, one thing becomes clear. It is a real masterpiece and without any doubts a success.

‘Avatar’ has garnered 9 Academy Award nominations as well as has earned more at the box office in first three months than ‘Titanic’ earned in the last 12 years.

In this movie James Cameron has created an absolutely new world with new people, new animals, new plants, new traditions and a new language. And what is more important, all these are so realistic, that it seems that you are an integral part of everything happens in the movie and really start worrying about the main character.

But, even more, Cameron told this story so well that we turn on our own human race as the savages of the story, instead of the hostile Na’vi. Through his movie magic, we all become Jake Sully, which is a great accomplishment for any filmmaker.

And probably this is why it already won the Golden Globe for both Best Director and Best Drama.

It has become a common thing that new hollywood movie releases turned into an event, especially for movie lovers. Some people prefer watching films at home, that’s why they seek for new movie releases on dvd, and the others like going to the cinema. In any case all of them need info on new movie releases in theaters this week which can be easily got on the Internet.
