Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EZ47VK

The Panasonic DMR -EZ47VK ($ 330 Buy now) can be regarded as a digital video Swiss Army knife. It has an ATSC tuner, DVD recording capabilities, DVD playback and dubbing and an upscaling DVD player (up to 1080p via HDMI) to boot. And with this ability to be excited when the device was presented at the headquarters of the boys HT. On paper, this unit was too good to be true. So how will behave in the real world?

ATSC

The camera comes with an ATSC tuner that will make your current analog TV ready for cutting. That is, if the air is how you find your current TV signals. So likely, but still its good to know that you can record digital signals your beautiful quality. However, while the player is capable of capturing digital HDTV signal has no way to record in 720p or 1080i. But what you get is a very clean 480p (DVD quality) signal recorded on a DVD. One area of disappointment is, however, if we want this device to act as a source of high definition HD ready TV is out of luck. The player does not pass an HD signal through the TV. We thought it was strange that the ATSC tuner is not compatible with an electronic program guide. Although the interface is very simple to use, allows the recordings a little older like VCRs. You never know what you want until you see it registered on the screen.

Playing DVD (upscaling performance)

We assessed the situation in both objective and subjective tests. For the purpose of the tests used Silicon Optix HQV DVD. We connected the drive our Mitsubishi WD-65831 and put the reader to 1080p output via HDMI cable. We found that the player makes a great job with the color test bar and a decent job with jaggies. The test evaluates the effect of the stage of the capacity to deal with the actors moving objects. Detail enhancement, noise reduction and motion adaptive tests were a little too hard for this player, but He did an excellent job with 3:02 detection. In general, the DMR-EZ47VK is a decent player upconversion DVD. Definitely an improvement over standard DVD player.

Since the HQV disc is designed to highlight the capacity of DVD players also wanted to take a look at how this player with films regularly. Here we left our old standbys, Blackhawk Down Superbit Spider-Man 2. The player did a great job with these movies. The scenes of field of vision Night does not seem grainy and the detail was very noticeable in dark scenes. Spiderman 2 was amazing! We can not wait for Spiderman 3. The digital audio such as Dolby Digital and DTS are transmitted via the HDMI cable. So I made a video and an audio cable to the receiver. All chain (Mitsubishi DLP Panasonic DVD Recorder and Aperion speakers) reviewed and seemed fantastic. We forget that the player was a DVD recorder with upscaling capabilities. In general, we are very happy with the DVD playback on the Panasonic sc.

DVD playback and dubbing

If you have boxes of old videos that you have saved children and are looking for for transferring and stored in a digital format, then this product if you want. Saving your child's play for future generations of school is as simple as inserting the video cassette and DVD-R blanks and press a button. This also works for copying DVD to VHS tape blank. Is possible to find in stores ;-) ? The recorder is compatible with almost any recordable disc formats, including dual layer discs.

DVD Recording

The player has four recording modes that come with a good mix of capacity considerations of quality. Mode High quality (XP) can record one hour of video on a single layer disc. Registration times are also longer available in EP mode with up 8:00 registration. Double-layer discs are compatible and almost double these values. The unit is also compatible with the SP and LP. All Records can be viewed on the player through an element of "Records" menu that has an interface with the miniature movement. To view your recordings on a standard DVD player must be finalized disc that can take up to fifteen minutes. Something to consider during playback of a recording format in the Pan DMR-EZ47VK is the image displayed in the original format. But when you play in another drive DVD up-conversion of the image is distorted from a 4:3 relationship. Then, on setting the parameters of the TV to stretch image to 16:9.

The video quality is a function recording mode. In this mode the longest game (EP) the quality is very poor compared to XP. Recording HD look good, but it was easy to see that the image is not high definition. If you are accustomed to looking HD, you will see a net loss of quality in what you're used to seeing. However, digital image is better than any picture SD could find. Dubbed VHS was like they could consider the source.

Other considerations

The player has a slot SD, but is valid only for viewing images. The DVD player supports DIVX. From the Panasonic web site: Official DivX certified product. Get all versions of DivX (including DivX 6) with standard playback of DivX media files. The player also play audio CDs and MP3. And finally, the device is compatible with EZ Sync HDAVI Control so you can connect your DVD player to your Panasonic components and control with a single button on the remote. Last thing we want to address is the menu system and remote control. The menu system is quite complex and intuitive, not to go. The remote buttons are allocated and actually had to find the keys you need. However, its understandable when you consider how many features of butter. Just wanted to point you'll have to spend some time with the player to familiarize themselves with it to get the most out of it.
